Comparison
of Tumescent Liposculpture to Traditional Liposuction: With Tumescent– Local
Anesthesia is used unlike traditional, which requires general anesthesia or
IV Sedation.
Tumescent Liposculpture is
generally less expensive due to the fact that there are no fees for
anesthesia or the facility required.
There is less chance of
complications documented in the medical literature associated with tumescent
Liposculpture than with traditional liposuction.
There is less pain with tumescent
Liposculpture as there is much less trauma caused to the

body since the instruments
used are extremely small.
There is a much faster recuperation
with tumescent Liposculpture– Patients often resume their normal activities
within 24 to 48 hours. With traditional liposuction patients may not be able
to resume normal activities for days or weeks.
Smaller micro-cannulas
(instruments) leave minimal surface changes and minimal or no scars.
Usually performed in an office suite
unlike traditional liposuction which is often performed in a hospital or
outpatient surgical center leading to
additional costs .

Some of our clients have often asked
us when reviewing our weight management program, if we could offer them
something that would give them instant results so that they my have a jump
start on our body contouring program.
We considered this when we
researched the Tumescent Liposculpture cosmetic procedures by watching the
procedures and speaking to the patients before, during the procedures and
after. In each instances before the procedure they were given oral
medication to relax them and the patients reported mild discomfort for a few
minutes at the beginning and then no pain at all for the rest of the
procedure.
The procedure is: an advanced
technique of permanently removing fat deposits in areas that are resistant
to diet and exercise. It is called tumescent (which means to swell) because
the surgeon fills and swells the fatty areas to be removed with large
volumes of special solution before the procedure. This solution completely
numbs the area due to the effect of local anesthetic, therefore general
anesthesia or heavy intravenous sedation is not required. At the same time,
a substance called epinephrine constricts the blood vessels, reducing
bleeding to negligible amounts. Fatty deposits are then removed using small
straw-like tubes called cannulas connected to a large bulb type syringe. It
is called liposculpture because the cosmetic surgeon is able to artistically
sculpt the body into a new shape using delicate instruments. Besides the
benefits of local anesthesia, the patient can cooperate with the surgeon by
changing positions so each area can be best treated during to same procedure
never before possible.
TUMESCENT ANESTHESIA:
This
is a fluid that is injected into the fat to make it numb before the
physician suctions out the fat. The solution is composed of 3 main
ingredients– 1: saline, this makes the fat more liquid and easier to
suction, 2: Lidocane, this temporarily numbs the nerves in the fat and skin
so the patient will not feel pain during suctioning; 3: Epinephrine, this
constricts blood vessels for minimal blood loss. This liquid reduces pain
after the procedure because some of it remains in the body approximately 18
hours after.

Why don’t all doctors use the
Tumescent technique if it is the safest and most precise:
We believe it is care and
consideration of the patient that makes certain doctors use the Tumescent
technique because of the following: Tumescent liposuction takes about twice
as long to perform because the physician has to inject the anesthesia slowly
so the patient remains comfortable and pain free. The physician who chooses
to use the tumescent technique sacrifices a little more of his time to
ensure that patients are having the procedure performed in the safest way
possible. Many physicians are not comfortable performing a procedure when
the patient is awake. Although there are many skilled physicians in the
traditional technique, this form of liposuction and anesthesia is a newer
technique and usually requires additional training.
How much fat can be removed?
Up to 3.5 liters in one session.
This amount will not imbalance the system and maintains safety.
Who is a good candidate?
People who are generally in good
shape, but have localized resistant areas of fat are ideal. It is also
common to treat overweight persons who have realistic expectations or who
can follow the Anti-Aging Clinic weight management program pre and post
procedures.
What areas can be treated?
Almost any area on the body can be
treated and results are phenomenal with post-op AAC weight management and
lymphatic treatments.

Will fat come back?
Once taken out fat cells do not grow
back; the surgeons do not take out all the cells and therefore if you do not
follow the weight management program and receive the lymphatic drainage
treatments in a timely post operative manner, they can increase in size with
added weight.
Risk of any surgery!
Common side effect:
Bruising
Swelling
Temporary
numbness
Irregularities in the skin after
procedure; this is minimized with use of small instruments; these
conditions slowly resolve in 12 to 16 weeks with noticeable improvements
in 2 to 4 weeks. The Anti-Aging Clinic’s lymphatic drainage treatments
will smooth out the irregularity created in the skin and help to reduce
the swelling to create a contoured smooth appearance. With this jump-start
utilizing Liposculpture and post-op lymphatic drainage treatments as well
as the commitment to the body contouring weight management program from
the Anti-Aging Clinic everyone can look forward to a beautiful shapely
body.
